Refrigerators and coolers: Electric camping coolers
Especially when travelling in summer temperatures, mobile electric coolers are indispensable. In the car, the electric coolers can be easily connected to the cigarette lighter using the power cable supplied. In many cases, vehicles are pre-equipped with additional 12 V sockets on the rear seats or in the boot. Equipped in this way, cold drinks can always be served as refreshment in the car.
The electric coolers are so well insulated that they can then be disconnected from the mains in the vehicle on site and carried to the beach over the shoulder with a practical carrying strap.
However, 12V coolers should only be in operation when the car's engine is running - i.e. you are travelling - otherwise the car battery can drain quickly. In modern cars, however, the battery management system intervenes to protect the battery if you forget to disconnect the electric cooler from the mains, i.e. pull the plug out of the cigarette lighter.
Highly efficient compressor cooling
A compressor cooler is another and even better option for cooling when camping. These units work like a camping fridge and have very powerful cooling, so you can even freeze your food. However, the convenient refrigerators can be quite noisy. When it comes to power connections, you can choose between 230V alternating current operation or 12V direct current, as is available in cars. This way, food can already be cooled down at home by conveniently plugging the compressor cooler into a 230V socket located in the house.
Compressor coolers come in many sizes, so this luxury cooling is available even in very lightweight portable versions. Many of the compressor coolers have an extremely narrow cut so that they can be placed between the two driver's seats and then even provide storage space for drinking cups in the lid area.
Quiet absorption cooling for camping coolers
Absorber refrigerators are a virtually silent and energy-saving alternative to compressor refrigerators and are therefore particularly popular.
With these refrigerators for camping trips, you have the flexibility to decide whether you want to run them on electricity or gas. This has the advantage that you can use the absorber refrigerator both in the motorhome at the campsite and in the great outdoors, where there is usually no power supply available to you. Absorber refrigerators are therefore widely used and permanently installed in all recreational vehicles with a gas supply. Here, no start-up noise is a nuisance during cooling operation. In the hot south, however, an additional fan is usually needed so that the heat exchangers on the back of the absorber units get the necessary air flow for heat dissipation.
