The solution to today's energy system is called LiFePO4: This abbreviation stands for lithium iron phosphate accumulator.

These high-tech batteries combine several devices in one: Similar to a coffee machine, you only need a 230V cable and then battery, charger and management system in one.

In this respect, the high prices must be put into perspective. No other battery technology can currently beat lightweight, compact with extreme power density over many years.

In contrast to a heavy lead accumulator, 100% of the nominal capacity can be used with a LiFePO4 accumulator. A 100 Ah lead-acid battery can provide a capacity of about 50 Ah, while a LiFePO4 can provide a full 100 Ah.

A lead-acid battery can also deliver only the specified discharge for a given capacity: If higher currents are required, the capacity will be considerably lower.

Studies have shown that the total lifetime of a LiFePO4 battery is between 2000 and 5000 cycles, and still more than 75% of its capacity after 2000 cycles.

A lead-acid battery achieves a maximum of 300 cycles and its service life is significantly lower than that of LiFePO4 batteries.
These 300 cycles are only realistic if the lead battery is carefully maintained and used properly during its entire lifetime.

The much more robust system is therefore the LiFePO4 accumulator with 10 years of age and more:

A LiFePO4 battery cannot be damaged, even if it is not charged regularly.

Those who then still use solar cells on their camper or caravan will appreciate the almost loss-free efficiency of almost 100% when charging:
