AL-KO Kober - History of the family business (excerpt)
The company name AL-KO is composed of the initials of the company founder Alois Kober. He founded the company AL-KO Kober in 1931 as a small blacksmith's shop in Großkötz, Swabia.
The company took off in 1952 with the development and series production of hand brake levers. In the following years, the production of lawn mowers, axles and frame chassis for caravans started. In 1958, the first subsidiary was founded, in which the three Kober sons assumed joint responsibility. In 1975, the company moved into air technology and in 1987, the company was transferred to AL-KO KOBER AG (the three brothers as chairmen of the board). Since then, the company has developed steadily with stable partners. Today, AL-KO is an international company and motorhome and caravan enthusiasts all over the world rely on equipment and accessories from AL-KO.
